PLEASE JOIN US AGAIN AT BADMINTON 2018!
Judith and I cannot believe that it is now almost a year since we were last at Badminton Horse Trials. If you remember the show was a really memorable occasion. The sun shone and the dust rose under the feet not only of the beautiful equine creatures but also the vast number of visitors there to enjoy the trials and the day out.
Who can forget the thrilling end to the event. Our stand is on Beaufort Way opposite the Directors` entrance and on the final day the atmosphere from the parade ring for the show jumping finale was electric. I popped over to the side of the ring and could stand and watch from a sharp angle some of the jump off when a young lady with her companion stepped out from the gateway to the ground and came across to me. In a very friendly New Zealand accent she offered me her grandstand tickets telling me that unfortunately she had to leave early. I accepted gratefully and then looked around sheepishly at the entrance to my stand where Judith was busy serving customers. Do I go back and help Judith or did I use the ticket? I still feel some pangs of a guilt because you have guessed it I went and took my place in the grandstand.
The top 10 over all finishers included 3 from GBR namely Kristina Cook riding Billy the Red, Gemma Tattersall on Arctic Soul amd Rosalind Canter on Allstar B. Well done to them all!
Michael Jung that awesome horse man rode La Biosthetique San FBX and finished second behind Andrew Nicholson from team NZL on Nereo.
I still wonder how that very charitable New Zealand lady feels today about missing the finale.
Apart from the trials themselves, the show was truly memorable for the organisation and all the hard work put into it by the organisers, their employees and our fellow tradesmen and women.
